Our Topic

Our topic this month is Christmas. The children will be participating in various activities over the month.

Celebrations/Special Events

6th – Pre-School Nativity

12th – Christmas Lunch

13th – Christmas Party tea

 Opening Hours over Christmas

We close at 6pm on Friday 23rd December 2016 and reopen on Tuesday 3rd January 2017. For our term time children, they finish on Thursday 22nd December and return on Monday 9th January 2017.

We hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Christmas Lunch and Party tea

Our Christmas Lunch is on Tuesday 12th December and our Christmas Party tea is on Wednesday 13th December. For anyone that doesn’t attend on these days and would like to join us, places can be booked in on a first come first serve basis at the usual session cost.

Staff changes

We would like to welcome Sheila to our team who is going to be working in the Toddler room.

School Admissions

The school admission is now open for children starting school in September 2017. If your child was born between 1st September 2012 and 31st August 2013, you need to apply for a school place before 15th January 2017.

You can apply either: Online at: or by telephoning the Authority on 0300 123 7039 to request a ‘Starting School 2017-18’ booklet.

Please speak to a member of the management team if you require any further information.

Please note that children who are due to start school in September 2017 need to apply for their school place before the 15th January 2017.

Tea towels

We still have some tea towels left for anyone who would like any, they make fantastic Christmas presents and cost £5 each.

Babies and First Steps

During December, the babies will be continuing to finish their Christmas surprises ready to go home. We will also be joining in with party games and singing lots of Christmas songs.


This month our colour of the month is green for Christmas.

The story of the month is ‘That’s not my Santa’.

We will be doing lots more arts and crafts for Christmas.

Can I also ask all parents to bring in warm clothes and put names in hats, scarfs and gloves.

The last week before Christmas we will be having parties, music and lots of fun.

Big Room

In December we have a special visitor coming everyday with many surprises. Her name is ‘Elsie Elf’. Elsie Elf gets up to lots of silly tricks each morning and surprises the children.

From December 12th, we will be starting to send home our Christmas folders which contain the lovely gifts which the children have been busy making throughout December.

In the room we have a drinks station for the children to access throughout the day. Please can we ask the parents to bring in a water bottle which we can label and keep topped up during the day.


It’s finally time for pre-school’s nativity. We will be continuing practising for our final week before the big day.

We will also be continuing our surprise Christmas crafts and activities throughout December.

The last week before Christmas we will be joining in with lots of party games and fun.

Please could we ask if you could bring in warm clothing, hats and scarves so that we can still go outside each day.
