November 2015 Newsletter

November Events

We have a very busy month ahead of us in November at Acorn Nursery! Bonfire Night is on 5th November and we will be doing lots of themed art and crafts activities. We have poppies for Remembrance Day in the entrance hall. If you want to take one please put your donation in the charity tin. The children will be creating their own poppy pictures. We will also be celebrating St Andrew’s day on Monday 30th November.

Children in Need

From the 9th – 13th November you can dress up as your favourite character for Children in Need. We will be playing lots of games. We will also be running a cake stall and would be grateful if you could bake something for us to raffle off to raise money for Children in Need.

Christmas Dates

Tuesday 8th December 2pm – Nativity

Wednesday 16th December – Christmas Party

Thursday 17th December – Christmas Dinner

If any of these dates are not your child’s usual booked sessions then you are able to book extra sessions which will be given on a first-come-first-served basis.

Hats and Scarves

As the weather is becoming colder, please could you bring your child in with hats, gloves and scarves as we will still be spending time outside during the day.

Family Photos

Please could you provide family photos for our family walls in each room – these can be emailed to the office at info@acorndaycare.co.uk and printed out here at nursery.

Tea Towels

The tea towels have arrived and they look fantastic, there is a sample of the tea towel hanging up in the entrance hall for you to see. If you would like to order any tea towels, they make excellent Christmas presents; please can you let us know in the next few weeks to ensure they arrive in time for Christmas.

Babies and First Steps

We would like to welcome Blake, James and Orlaith to Acorn Nursery and the First Steps room. We would also like to say goodbye to our first steppers as they move up into the Toddler room. Our topic of the month this month will be ‘space and rockets’. First steps will be taking part in lots of fun activities related to this. We will also be celebrating bonfire night and making bonfire night pictures. During November we will also be celebrating Diwali and Children in Need.

Toddlers

We would like to welcome Edward to the toddler room, I’m sure we will have lots of fun together. Our shape of the month for November will be a square shape. As its Bonfire night we will be making some bright firework paintings. For Children in Need we are having a teddy bears picnic on Tuesday 10th November. If your child has a favourite teddy, please feel free to bring it in for the picnic. Our story of the month is Goldilocks and the three bears.

Big Room

In November our topic of the month is ‘space’. We will be doing lots of art and crafts for our display board. Using junk modelling we will make a rocket and role play being an astronaut. For Bonfire Night we will make chocolate apples for the children to enjoy when at home or out watching the fireworks. We will be doing remembrance poppy’s. Last month we looked at different religions, during week commencing 9th November we will be making Diwali lanterns and celebrating the festival of light. The children in big room have a new friend called ‘Pirate Pete’. Pirate Pete is our teddy bear and has started going on adventures with some of the girls and boys in the room.

Pre-School

Throughout November we will be doing Bonfire Night and firework crafts. We will also be looking at our topic of the month which is space. Pre-school will be looking at all the different planets and making a new display with all of the children’s work. This month we will also be making Poppies for Remembrance Sunday, using different craft materials. We will also be celebrating Children in Need. We will be making different coloured cakes, Pudsey masks and ears, baking biscuits and decorating them with smarties. We will also be starting to practice our Christmas songs ready for our Nativity, so some of your children may come home singing the songs. Please could parents bring in glass jars with screw lids as we will be making our Christmas surprise gifts.
