October 2015 Newsletter

It Pays to Have a Friend

As many of our new children have found out about Acorn Nursery through a recommendation, we have decided to extend the It Pays to Have a Friend offer to be a continuous scheme. If you recommend a friend which results in their child taking up a place at nursery, you will receive a credit for the value of one week of the recommended child’s sessions. You can make as many recommendations as you wish! For more information please speak to a member of staff in the office.

Humprey’s Pyjama Week

From the 5th – 9th October we will be taking part in Humphrey’s Pyjama Week at nursery. We would like to invite children to wear their Pyjamas to nursery for a small donation which will go towards The Children’s Trust, a charity which provides care for severely disabled children.

Staff Changes

We would like to welcome back Sara from her maternity leave. She will be taking up her old position of Room Leader in the toddler room, working alongside Evelyn and Jess.

Throughout October we will be doing Halloween crafts. Our story of the month is Room on the Broom to tie in with Halloween. The children have each done a drawing for our display which is in the book corner. Our topic of the month is ‘Under the Sea’. We will be exploring different animals that live under the sea and making a display of all the children’s art work. If you have any family pictures that we can display in our book corner that would be great!

We would like to welcome Eloise, Izzy, Ben Watts, Ben Williamson and Kian into the Pre-School room following their transition from the Big Room. This month we will be focusing on ‘Under the Sea’. The Pre-School room will soon be gaining our very own goldfish to care for. The children will also learn about different aquatic habitats and the different animals that live in the sea. As it is Halloween this month the children will be creating their own spooky masks and other decorations for the room. The children recently went into the garden and found some caterpillars which we have created a home for and hopefully we will see them turn into butterflies. The Pre-School children will also be taking part in daily PE sessions so a quick reminder to those who haven’t yet to please bring in your child’s labelled PE kit. In Pre-School we are talking about our families and who we live with, if you have any photos could you please bring them in. Finally, we are introducing art work books which will include both art work that has been displayed in the room and your child’s free drawing.
