The Toddler Room provides care for up to 11 children aged around 18 months to 2.5 years. The Room Leader leads a team of experienced Nursery Nurses who care for the children on a 1:3 ratio.
The children in this room are beginning to be aware of things in the outside world and we try to channel that enthusiasm and energy into stimulating and positive activities. The activities in this room start to become more focused on group activities and children will be encouraged to take turns, share and co-operate with their friends and staff.
Here at Acorn Nursery we try to provide a warm, safe, secure environment where children are encouraged to learn and develop through planned, purposeful play. Children are treated as individuals and we follow children’s own interests in order to give them self-confidence and self- esteem.
Children enjoy free play, group story time, singing sessions, baking and structured play , satisfying their inquisitive minds and promoting their social skills such as confidence, listening skills, concentration and speech development. The children also have the opportunity to play and experience the outdoor environment though both child and adult led activities, giving them the opportunity to experience the different types of weather and its effects it has on our bodies.
All children are allocated a key worker, who is an experienced, qualified member of staff and will work closely with parents and their child in order to make it an enjoyable experience during their time in nursery.
We acknowledge that children toilet train at different stages. Therefore a nappy change facility and toilets (or potties) are available. Staff will liaise closely with parents in regard to their children’s individual needs.
